The Team

The Medical Authorization Centre (MAC) Pharmacy is responsible for making decisions concerning health needs for products that require authorization. In this role you will service various contracts and work as a member of an overall medical professional team.

The primary goal of this unit is to provide positive health care outcomes through on-line case assessment using computer technology.

Work location can be remote from home, and the hours of operation for this team range from Monday to Friday 6:45am to 8:30pm Atlantic Time (AT). We work a 7.5 hour workday, a 37.5 hour work week: No overnight, No weekends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Make decisions concerning clients' health needs for products that require authorization
  • Administer process for special authorization decisions through the interactive use of telecommunications and — applied on-line POS technology
  • Utilize your medical background, knowledge and experience to render decisions
  • Liaison with the customers and other health care professionals to ensure treatment requests are appropriately administered
  • Provide a positive and efficient customer service experience for providers and clients
  • Support positive health care outcomes through on-line case assessment using computer technology
  • In this position you will work various shifts between 6:45 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. (AT), Monday to Friday

Qualifications
  • Work Experience: Have a minimum of 5 years nursing experience, including knowledge of medical conditions in relationship to pharmaceutical treatment
  • Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Multi-tasker and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Superior verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work shift work on a rotating basis

Education: Active Nursing License

Computer Skills: Possess strong computer skills or aptitude

Language Skills: Must be fluently bilingual (English and French) both written and verbal in order to provide services to our customers and communicate with internal stakeholders in both official languages.

Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B). This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.
