Bilingual Receptionist (French and English) for community services agency client, downtown Toronto.

Job Type : Temporary.

Initial Term : August 25 2025 to November 7 2025.

Compensation : $30.90 per hour.

Regular Work Hours : From 9 am to 5 pm not including 1 hour unpaid lunch break, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).

Work Location : 100% onsite at client's downtown Toronto office, near TTC station and with free parking also provided.

Responsibilities Summary :

Provide reception and switchboard services in both French and English. Courteously receive and welcome visitors, clients, staff, messengers and delivery services to an active, high volume, reception area and lobby; expedite high volume of internal and external communication.

  • Receive, screen and direct all internal and external general calls in both English and French, using an automated switchboard. Close switchboard at end of business day.
  • Receive and greet clients and visitors in both French and English, and monitor access by maintaining a reception sign-in / sign-out register.
  • Book agency vehicles for use by organization staff and arrange for fleet maintenance. Track and process monthly car expenditures.
  • Call couriers and book outgoing courier deliveries. Keeps records of incoming courier packages and distribute as appropriate.
  • Coordinate meeting room bookings and assist with monitoring meeting rooms to ensure they are tidy and business-ready.
  • Hold packages and other assets for pick up at reception. Dispense and track cheques, vouchers and other items.
  • Maintain and update reception area's bulletin boards, display cabinets and other information facilities as needed.
  • Arrange for technical support and trade services as needed.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Additional front-desk reception, switchboard and office administration responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications :

Education : Highschool Diploma. Additional post secondary education an asset.

Preferred Work Experience : At least 1+ year of experience staffing a busy reception desk.

Preferred Sector Experience : Community services, health care services, or public information desk experience an asset.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements :

  • General proficiency with standard front desk office equipment including computer equipment, switchboard, printer, scanner, etc.
  • Proficiency in MSOffice including Word, Excel, and Outlook (will be tested).
  • Strong data entry skills (will be tested).
  • Excellent communications skills in both French and English, written and verbal, including satisfactory business writing skills and polished, professional phone manners in both languages (will be tested).
  • Verbal fluency in additional language(s) an asset.
  • Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes :

  • Punctual, responsible, and reliable. Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character.
  • Previous experience working with the general public.
  • Pleasant and courteous. Professional telephone manners and good judgement. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with all staff and clients.
  • Ability to work well under pressure. Proficient de-escalation skills and excellent listening skills.
  • Focused and able to work effectively with minimal direction and supervision, to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
  • Superior attention to detail, and organized, methodical approach to completion of tasks.
  • Demonstrated successful experience of prioritizing work, making decisions and communicating with others within a values framework of respect, equity, anti-racism, diversity and inclusivity.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies
  • Ability to promptly provide a minimum of 2 qualified employment references upon request who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg's client.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
  • Ability to complete a satisfactory security check prior to assignment start.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Additional satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References as required.
