Qualifications

Job description

***BILINGUAL: ENGLISH AND FRENCH SPEAKING LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY***

Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.

  • Assist registered staff with nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  • Complete all documentation on time, ensuring it is current, accurate, and in accordance with corporate policies.
  • Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Assist and support residents during meal service.
  • Support restorative nursing efforts.
  • Coordinate and perform activities necessary for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
  • Deliver care in compliance with legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation for all care provided, adhering to legal and internal standards.
  • Contribute to mentoring new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
  • Engage in departmental, interdisciplinary, and resident safety meetings.
  • Foster teamwork and understanding among shifts, staff, and within the collective agreement framework.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, lockout procedures, and PPE usage.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication.
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
  • Meet one of the following:
  • Completed a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized community college or school approved by the National Association of Career Colleges, OR
  • Be a student in RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy programs with successful Year 1 completion.
  • Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
  • Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
  • Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
  • VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
