Bilingual Operations Leadership Trainee – Milling

Location: Montreal, Quebec

Position Type: Operations

Salary: Full-Time, Exempt

About the Position

The Operations Leadership Trainee program provides an excellent foundation for a career in manufacturing, offering experience with facilities, processes, products, and employees within ADM. The role begins at our flour mill in Montreal, Quebec, where you'll gain leadership experience, troubleshoot equipment, and manage plant challenges. Training includes on-the-job observation and participation in improvement projects, with rotations across multiple production units to familiarize you with plant operations and management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supervise operations and employees in a production environment.
  2. Perform duties of department superintendents in their absence.
  3. Provide leadership in safety, quality, and production.
  4. Develop capital projects and prepare budgets for approval.
  5. Monitor inventory and production during shifts.
  6. Apply problem-solving techniques to resolve process issues.
  7. Implement manufacturing best practices to improve yield and capacity.
  8. Oversee engineering projects.
  9. Collaborate to achieve optimal design solutions.
  10. Determine equipment needs and costs for plant expansion.
  11. Work with vendors, consultants, maintenance personnel, and contractors.
  12. Maintain records, address employee performance issues, and monitor production efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Results-oriented with leadership qualities to motivate plant personnel.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and decision-making skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Organized with multitasking capabilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Committed to safety, food safety, environmental stewardship, quality, and production.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willing to work occasional off-hours as needed.

Education or Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree recently completed in chemical, industrial, mechanical, agricultural/biological systems engineering, or food science.

Additional Information

  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
  • Capable of working at heights, standing, sitting, kneeling, crawling, and bending.
  • May need to lift up to 55 lbs / 22 kg.
  • Work in various conditions, including hot, cold, or wet environments.
  • Compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Full compliance with safety and EHS standards.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada; relocation support available.
  • Willing to travel for training and relocate for future opportunities within ADM.
