SUMMARY

The Health, Safety, and Environment Coordinator manages environmental and health program processes to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and improve performance. The role primarily focuses on environmental issues, with some health and safety tasks included.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Program Coordination
  • Serve as the first point of contact for environmental and health inquiries and incidents.
  • Guide team members on environmental and health matters; escalate issues as needed.
  • Implement and coordinate environmental, health, and safety programs, including procedures, processes, and resources.
  • Participate in activities such as tenant OSH and environmental committee meetings, incident investigations, emergency response planning, training, compliance audits, and data management.
  • Research environmental, health, and safety issues, providing findings and recommendations.
  • Maintain and develop documentation like plans, procedures, forms, and logbooks.
  • Support construction teams with documentation needs.
  • Conduct regular inspections to prevent regulatory issues and safety concerns.
  • Maintain business continuity and emergency plans.
  • Participate in inspections and audits to monitor compliance and identify risks, suggesting improvements.
  • Incident Investigation, Resolution & Reduction
    • Assist in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and recommend resolutions.
    • Coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
    • Identify trends and suggest incident reduction strategies.
  • Audit Compliance, Data Maintenance & Reporting
    • Maintain environmental, health, and safety data accurately.
    • Assist with compliance audits.
    • Prepare and distribute reports, including incident reports.
    • Experience with database development is an asset.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
    • Strong background in environmental management systems and compliance auditing.
    • Certifications such as Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or relevant degrees are preferred.
    • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
    • Understanding of regulatory requirements and emergency management.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and administrative skills.
    • Analytical, problem-solving skills, and good judgment.
    • Ability to work independently and supportively within a team.
    • Willingness to travel to various sites.
    Licenses and Professional Accreditation (Assets)

    Interest in obtaining certifications like:

    • Canadian Registered Safety Professional
    • Certified Health & Safety Consultant
    • Physical Security Professional
