Position Overview

We are seeking a Bilingual (French and English) Law Clerk to work in partnership with litigation counsel and law clerks to provide legal services across Canada. The role involves handling defence files related to various issues including complex claims, disability, and investment matters. You will support all aspects of litigation, contribute to process improvements, and support the team’s efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Draft and prepare legal correspondence and documents, ensuring proper filing according to jurisdiction.
  2. Support case development through document review, summarization, and management of production requests.
  3. Coordinate between counsel, external parties, and claims personnel to facilitate case progress.
  4. Manage examinations for discoveries, arrange medical examinations, investigations, and mediations, and prepare related documentation.
  5. Review incoming legal documentation and ensure proper document management and data entry in relevant systems.
  6. Proactively determine next steps in litigation files and perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary diploma in law clerking or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in insurance defence, with knowledge of court rules and legal terminology.
  • Bilingual in French and English to support clients outside Quebec.
  • Knowledge of legal procedures across Canada, strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, technical proficiency in MS Office, Adobe, and legal management software.
  • Experience handling sensitive information and working in a confidentiality-sensitive environment.
Additional Details

This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days in-office, with locations in Montreal, Toronto, London, or Winnipeg. The salary ranges from $56,000 to $83,900 annually, excluding variable compensation. The position is open for applications for at least 5 business days, with rolling review of submissions.
