Position: Bilingual Field Claims Investigator / Recovery Agent

Location: Hybrid (75% remote, 25% fieldwork)

Compensation: $28 CAD/hr plus mileage reimbursement ($.72 CAD per km for first 5,000 km, $.66 CAD for additional km) per investigation, plus commission (EST. $80,000 CAD/yr)

Phoenix Loss Control (“Phoenix” or “PLC”) is a U.S.-based business services provider in the cable, telecom, and utilities sector. PLC specializes in outside plant damage investigation, recovery, and prevention, helping clients recover costs from third-party damages to infrastructure such as underground fiber optic or gas lines. With over 120 employees, PLC serves major cable and telecom operators including Comcast, Spectrum, AT&T, and Google. The company is expanding and seeks talented individuals to join its growth journey.

POSITION SUMMARY

Outside Plant Damage costs our clients over 30 million USD / 43 million CAD annually. The role involves investigating damages, reporting findings, and pursuing claim recoveries. Candidates should be inquisitive, self-driven, and adaptable to a dynamic environment. Bilingual in French and English is required for effective communication.

  • Conduct on-site investigations
  • Write detailed investigation reports using diverse sources
  • Maintain knowledge of local and state regulations regarding underground and aerial cables
  • Respond promptly to damage calls
  • Complete investigations within 7 days and support claims recovery
  • Respond to damages during business hours or the next day
  • Accurately record all related activities and expenses

Claim Recovery Duties

  • Review claim details, identify liable parties, and facilitate recovery
  • Prepare invoices and gather costing information
  • Communicate with liable parties and insurance carriers
  • Negotiate settlements and resolve conflicts
