Overview

Aston Carter's client is seeking a Senior HR Specialist (Bilingual) to support HR compliance and employee relations across Canada. This remote role focuses on compliance (80%), with additional responsibilities in HR policy development and employee relations. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong organizational skills, bilingual in English and French, and experienced in navigating multi-jurisdictional HR regulations.

This is a remote position supporting Canadian operations, with a preference for candidates based in Vancouver, but open to qualified candidates in Quebec and Ontario.

Top Priorities (First 90 Days)
  1. Review and update HR policies and processes.
  2. Provide support for employee relations and investigations.
  3. Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures in compliance with Canadian federal and provincial laws (English & French).
  • Provide guidance on regulatory compliance, employee relations, and HR best practices.
  • Support and manage compliance programs including:
  • Pay Equity (Quebec, Ontario, BC)
  • Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
  • Federal Contractor Program
  • Francisation Program (Quebec)
  • Conduct investigations, performance improvement planning, and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Payroll, Legal, and US-based HRBPs.
  • Utilize Workday for HRIS and documentation processes.
  • Assist with HR support during mergers and acquisitions in Canada.
MUST HAVE
  • 5–7+ years of HR generalist experience, preferably in a compliance-heavy role.
  • Bilingual in English and French (written and verbal) - testing required!
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian labor laws and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (Workday preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field (required for potential conversion).
NICE TO HAVE
  • HR certification (CPHR/ORHRI) is a plus, but not required.
SOFT SKILLS
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Shift: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm

Workplace: Fully remote

Location: Vancouver strongly preferred; candidates in QC or ON will also be considered. If based in Vancouver, may be asked to visit the office when the manager is in town (1–2 times per year).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
