Our client is an ambitious Quebec-based company with years of experience. They specialize in the repair, conversion, and refurbishment of all types of railway rolling stock.

Must have: Experience in Railway (freight cars and locomotives). Bilingual in French and English.

The Electrical Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing electrical systems of locomotives, including traction motors, generators, and control systems. The role involves working closely with mechanical teams, clients, and suppliers, and contributing to team skill development. A strong understanding of complex electrical systems, analytical skills, and safety awareness are essential.

Responsibilities:

  1. Troubleshoot electrical issues in locomotives, including traction motors, generators, and control systems.
  2. Identify problematic systems/parts using diagnostic techniques.
  3. Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with specifications.
  4. Assist in developing modifications and testing equipment.
  5. Collaborate with client and supplier technical staff to improve reliability.
  6. Work with mechanical teams on system integration and performance improvements.
  7. Write technical and intervention reports, maintaining documentation.
  8. Participate in training to stay current with technological advancements.
  9. Provide coaching, mentoring, and hands-on training.

Required Qualifications:

  1. DEC in Electrical Engineering Technology or relevant experience.
  2. 3-5 years of similar experience.
  3. Ability to read diesel engine manuals, schematics, service bulletins, and maintenance instructions accurately.
  4. Knowledge of FRA and company rules, specifications, and guidelines.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  6. Good organizational skills, autonomy, attention to detail, and rigor.
  7. Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities effectively.
  8. Excellent command of both French and English, spoken and written.
