Summary :

Full-time bilingual English / French legal editor responsible for monitoring news, proposing news, and writing, commissioning, and editing content for the Middle East and North African online magazines.

Responsibilities :

  • Researching news and content from newspapers, regulatory sites, and press releases
  • Selecting appropriate legal news from GCC and MENA region
  • Writing news in style for daily online service and magazines
  • Commissioning articles for three legal magazines on Middle Eastern Law, Middle Eastern Tax Law, and Middle Eastern HR professionals
  • Commissioning and editing online Q&A content on various legal subjects for jurisdictions across the GCC and MENA
  • Arranging updates of online Q&A content from existing authors and finding alternative authors when necessary
  • Conducting interviews with professionals for the three magazines
  • Styling content for print books and collaborating with typesetters
  • Carrying out administrative tasks for tracking content supplies and deliveries from partner organizations
  • Capturing content using a bespoke XML editorial system for online sites—applying appropriate taxonomy, categorization, case, and law citations (XML knowledge not essential)
  • Continuously improving operational efficiencies to enhance customer outcomes
  • Establishing key metrics and dashboards
  • Implementing solutions to improve processes, delivery, and customer satisfaction
  • Supporting the development of primary content (Legislation and Case Law for North Africa in French)
  • Supporting the launch of new content and products for the North Africa area

Requirements :

  • Fluently bilingual in English and French, both verbal and written
  • Experience in writing and publishing
  • Legal knowledge or experience is preferred
  • Experience with DTP software, e.g., InDesign, is an asset
  • Experience commissioning and working with authors is an asset
  • Experience styling materials and using editorial systems for online content is an asset
