Reporting to the Manager, Group Life and Disability Claims, you will be responsible for processing short and long-term disability claims to determine eligibility for benefits, relying on medical reports, policies, and procedures.

More specifically, you will:

  • Assess disability claims and determine eligibility for benefits via telephone interview, considering medical information and contractual provisions, and pursuing additional information as needed;
  • Conduct detailed telephone interviews to gather pertinent medical and non-medical information;
  • Develop and implement a case management plan;
  • Assess non-medical factors and functional limitations that may influence disability duration and facilitate return-to-work in collaboration with a rehabilitation team;
  • Determine gradual return-to-work plans in collaboration with physicians, participants, and policyholders as needed;
  • Communicate with policyholders, participants, health professionals, service providers, and government entities via various communication channels, managing difficult calls when necessary;
  • Maintain participant files in the system;
  • Assist with special projects.

Your career path includes:

  • Post-secondary education in nursing, health professions, or related fields, with 2-3 years of related experience;

  • Excellent bilingual (English and French) communication skills, both oral and written, due to frequent interactions across Canada.
