Responsibilities
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences
  • Manage portion control of food items
  • Follow safety precautions, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues to management
  • Operate equipment safely, document temperatures, and follow up as needed
  • Deliver catering throughout the hospital, including dish pickup for ware washing
  • Maintain proper serving temperatures and observe time limits for meal service
  • Assist Cooks with food preparation, including salads, vegetables, and fruits
  • Clear plates and trays, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils
  • Assist with food prep according to detailed lists
  • Properly store and label dietary supplies and leftovers
  • Check and document food temperatures and quality, initiate corrective actions as needed, and monitor expiry dates
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas
  • Set up for catering events, including linens, equipment, and customer requests
  • Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, infection control, and environment
  • Assemble nourishment carts and stock kitchenettes
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Current (within 6 months) VPS screening
  • Experience in kitchen or food service setting
