Job Description

This company is seeking a Director of Data Protection to join their cybersecurity practice, where they focus on helping organizations build trust through strong data protection, privacy, and compliance programs. This leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives on guiding clients through complex data trust challenges and is passionate about advancing inclusive, secure, and ethical data practices. The Director will contribute to both strategic and hands-on engagements while mentoring a growing team and fostering long-term client relationships.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead data protection consulting engagements across a range of industries and sectors.
  2. Manage full engagement lifecycles including project planning, delivery oversight, budget, and resource allocation.
  3. Uphold internal risk and quality standards across all client engagements.
  4. Support business development initiatives from lead generation through to proposal and contract stages.
  5. Collaborate with national teams to evolve and expand the data trust service offering, including topics such as ethical data and AI use, anonymization, and data minimization.
  6. Cultivate and manage partnerships with technology vendors and other third-party stakeholders.
  7. Build and mentor a high-performing, inclusive team of data protection professionals.
  8. Contribute to broader cybersecurity initiatives and collaborate with other specialized teams across the organization.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge and experience in data security technologies, including encryption, tokenization, de-identification, and data leakage prevention.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Purview and similar data protection platforms.
  • Experience in developing strategies, roadmaps, operating models, and policies for data security and privacy.
  • Proficiency in data inventory, data flow mapping, and application integration patterns.
  • Ability to evaluate new technologies and build business cases for their adoption.
  • Understanding of privacy and information security standards (e.g., ISO, NIST).
  • Proven leadership skills, including project and team management.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC are preferred but not required.
