Overview

Location: Anywhere in Canada will be considered, virtual work opportunity (1-2 days in office per month may be required for company meetings).

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Leader of the Contract Labour Office (CLO), the Contract Manager will execute processes and solve challenges related to external resources – during the initial setup, while on contract, and when renewing or departing – for all functions and locations across Canada (the CLO processes 1000+ external resources per year of varying size – from individual to multi-million dollar organizations).

  • Applies technical expertise to advise, guide, and support Hiring Managers in the engagement of external resources, critical to meeting the needs of their clients/projects.
  • Independently works on multifaceted complex cases, escalations, and requests to result in effective and timely resolution, including complex contract revisions, risk assessments, change management, and managing difficult relationships.
  • Addresses matters relating to classification, independence conflicts, Partner-level resources, immigration, taxation, data security, services outside of Canada, government security requirements, acquisitions, external-client requested resources, member-firm agreements, offshore resources entering Canada, alliances, contract negotiations, time/expense, agencies/staffing firms, and subsidiaries.
  • Collaborates with internal subject-matter experts (e.g., Legal, Risk Management, Procurement, ITS Security, Finance, Partnership Matters) and external service providers to support engagements.
  • Works on complex and high-risk cases related to contingent workforce, including regulatory compliance (e.g., CRA, ESA) and adherence to KPMG policies and guidelines on third-party resources, independence, tax, immigration, and data security.

Note: The successful candidate would be responsible for, but not limited to, the activities described above.

Case Management

Standard case management

  • Promote the CLO’s internal brand through a customer-centric delivery approach.
  • Manage all cases in KPMG’s vendor management system (Flextrack) as a super-user.
  • Train internal clients on submitting requests through Flextrack.
  • Gather, interpret, and assess information related to setup and case management of external resources.
  • Conduct due diligence on resources (KPMG history, background checks, independence, business verification, etc.).
  • Educate and advise stakeholders on course of action; maintain regular communication on case progress.
  • Document and maintain information for reporting, analytics, and compliance audits.
  • Identify flags indicating a case is ‘complex’ and collaborate with team members to meet business needs.

Complex case management

  • Liaise with SMEs to manage escalations and complex cases; mediate contract negotiations between parties.
  • Draft customized clauses for third-party agreements and coordinate with the Office of the General Counsel for amendments.
  • Navigate requirements for complex case attributes (independence conflicts, immigration, data security, cross-border services, etc.).
  • Conduct risk classification assessments and support change management for smooth transitions.
  • Manage challenging client relationships.
Continuous Improvement / Projects
  • Suggest improvements to practices and processes; stay current on contingent workforce matters and related legislation.
  • Participate in or lead a project stream; perform other duties as assigned.
Miscellaneous
  • Respond to inquiries from the CLO mailbox; triage and provide education or directions as needed.
  • Provide internal reporting on contract spend and codes; train users to generate their own reports.
  • Handle escalations and lead education sessions for Hiring Managers or HR audiences.
  • Contribute to firm objectives and, when possible, mentor other CLO team members.
What You Bring To The Role
  • College or University degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years’ experience with contract labour or contingent work in a case management capacity, with related knowledge.
  • Experience drafting third-party agreements (staffing/agency) and negotiating clauses with multiple parties.
  • Exposure to immigration matters related to resourcing.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingualism with French is preferred.
  • Ability to act as a trusted advisor and work with senior members, contractors, vendors, and SMEs.
  • Attention to detail; ability to handle high volumes of cases in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities; focus on continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; experience with ServiceNow and Flextrack (or similar VMS) is an asset.
  • Legal training or experience an asset.

This position requires written and oral fluency in English. The successful candidate may be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues or stakeholders. The successful candidate may need to create, interpret and/or apply policies, practices, laws and/or regulations during employment.

Compensation & Benefits

KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information

The expected base salary range for this position is $73,000 to $109,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. Salary is determined by location, skills, competencies, and qualifications. KPMG offers a comprehensive Total Rewards program.
