Job Description

What You’ll Do :

Reporting to the Manager, Curo Claims Services, you’ll be responsible for serving the members through the investigation and settlement of minor to moderate property claims. This includes establishing prompt relationships with insured members, detailed investigation of coverage, liability and quantum ensuring fiduciary, regulatory and contractual compliance, and adhering to organization service standards, operational targets and core competencies.

The core parts of your role will be to :

  1. Deliver a superior customer experience by responding to inquiries, initiating and maintaining contact with insured members, and assisting with commodity claims overflow.
  2. Confirm coverage for incoming claims by reviewing facts, obtaining technical reports, completing contractual coverage analysis, assessing quantum, reviewing subrogation opportunities, and resolving property insurance claims of minor to moderate nature promptly.
  3. Coordinate and follow up on work performed by outside service providers, including contractors, engineers, contents specialists, and other suppliers.
  4. Ensure all correspondence is completed efficiently, including creating Critical Path, Proof of Loss, waivers, and reservation rights letters.
  5. Gather information from insured members, authorities, witnesses, and other insurers for timely property loss investigation.
  6. Maintain quality service and organizational standards in file handling, reserving, expense and loss control, and creating disposition plans for closure.
  7. Support dispute resolution related to policy coverage, including documentation and resolution recommendations.
  8. Participate in legislated Property Appraisal Process to resolve quantum disputes during negotiations.
  9. Identify legal requirements and standard definitions for each province’s Condominium policies.
  10. Coordinate with Condominium corporations on insured losses for effective restoration.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of claims information to protect operations and members.
  12. Ensure data integrity, process payments accurately, and keep well-organized claim files.
  13. Adhere to guidelines, contracts, and regulations for legal compliance.
  14. Participate in coaching, training, and team collaboration to improve work efficiency and value.
  15. Be an active member of Curo’s National Catastrophic Response Team.
  16. Perform other duties within your competence as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. A post-secondary education and/or college diploma in a related field.
  2. CIP designation or working towards it.
  3. A provincial adjusters license; ability to acquire it if not already held.
  4. 2+ years’ experience with a good understanding of property policies.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Strong time management and organizational skills.
  7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  8. Ability to learn and adapt quickly, working with various software and databases.
  9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  10. Fluency in French is required.
