CHEO, based in Ottawa, seeks a Child and Youth Counsellor to join a multidisciplinary pediatric mental health team. You will contribute to crisis intervention, assessments, and therapy across inpatient and day treatment settings, supporting patients and families with evidence-based modalities.

The role emphasizes teamwork, teaching, and program development, with bilingual English/French capabilities preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a three-year community college program in Child and Youth Counselling (Essential)
• Experience in paediatric psychiatry (Essential)
• Eligible for certified membership in the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counsellors (OACYC) (Essential)
• Certification in CPR and First Aid (Essential)
• Demonstrated excellent team work and interpersonal skills (Essential)
• Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3) (Essential)
• Bilingualism (French/English) (Preferred)

Responsabilités

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for Program Patients and families.
• Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Develop programming and activities for the inpatient unit and day treatment programs.
• Offer support/counselling to individual patients and their families.
• Provide learning experiences for the patient and family.
• Offer mentoring experiences for students and new staff.
