What's the role?
The Back Office Fire Protection Engineer is responsible for ensuring that internal teams and external customers receive quality answers to technical inquiries regarding the use and/or application of Hilti Fire Protection products and applications solutions. This role provides education and trainings to new and tenured field personnel to support development. This position creates engineering product submittals and customer facing educational material for field personnel to facilitate the sale of these key products.
What does the role involve?
- Create customer educational material for Fire Protection products and applications solutions
- Educate new employees on Fire Protection, and support technical competency development for Account Managers (AM), Firestop Specialists (FPS) and Field Engineers (FE)
- Conduct the Fire Protection trainings for Canadian specific topics for Junior FEs, new FPS and new AMs
- Create engineering product submittals for field personnel to facilitate the sale of key products
- Complete technical reviews to confirm accuracy of French translations for customer facing Fire Protection material
- Provide technical sales and engineering support (verbal and written) regarding application of Hilti products for external customers
- Meet assigned deadlines for project assignments
- Understand and apply approvals and listings for Hilti Fire Protection products correctly in verbal and written communication with customers
- Collect customer data and provide leads to FEs, FPS and AMs to maximize field coverage and penetration
- Complete defined projects (e.g. presentation and intranet development, small testing projects) to support the activities of Hilti Field Engineers and other sales personnel
- Provide Field Engineer territory coverage, as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
What you need is:
- Bilingual in both English and French, required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required – Civil, Structural,Architectural, or Mechanical discipline preferred
- Participate in the international business travel, to the United States for your initial training. Please note that any travel visa requirements will be your responsibility to obtain and needs to be in hand before applying
- Minimum two (2) years engineering experience required
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate required
- Communication (verbal, written, presentation) skills, required; ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external stakeholders, required
- Ability to organize and utilize large amounts of reference information in hardcopy and electronic files
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems
- Proven ability to read and understand blueprints, construction specifications, and documents
- Demonstrated knowledge of building codes relative to the application of Hilti Fire Protection products
- Experience Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
