Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable sector search.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Case management experience including collecting, researching, analyzing and summarizing written medical/paramedical/legal material.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills used to develop solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities in order to meet tight deadlines and manage a high volume of work.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail ensuring accuracy of work.
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written skills in English with the ability to develop and edit complex documents.
  • Strong written skills in French with the ability to develop and edit complex documents.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in French.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of body injury claims, and the medical and legal terminology used in these cases.
  • Knowledge of the principles of procedural fairness and natural justice.
  • Knowledge of the MPIC Act, PHIA, FIPPA and the Human Rights Code.

Duties:

Under the direction of the Director of Appeals, performs complex, specialized and responsible administrative work involving a high degree of initiative, special training and responsibility including the review and assessment of appeal files. The review consists of ensuring that documentation on the case files is complete, obtaining missing information, summarizing files for use at the appeal hearing, and identifying file/case problems. Provides information respecting Commission’s policies and procedures to Appellants, representatives (Claimant Advisers & lawyers) and to the Respondent MPIC. Identifies parties’ impediments to hearings & works with the parties to ensure that outstanding matters are resolved prior to the hearing.
