The Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) brings together our Cybersecurity, Fraud, Physical Security and Resilience Planning capabilities to address the ever-growing and increasingly complex global security environment. It is a highly collaborative effort that greatly enhances BMO’s ability to rapidly prevent, detect, respond to, and recover from all security & crisis threats. Schedule: Weekends included, Day shift starts at 9 AM - 11 AM EST

Responsibilities include conducting investigations to identify, assess, decide, and report on activity indicating exposure to financial crimes. Ensuring evaluations, documentation, management, and escalation follow standard procedures. Providing expertise and oversight of criminal risk through disciplined, intelligence-based detection and research aligned with risk frameworks to ensure compliance and support analysis and insights generation.

  • Develop recommendations for process and customer service improvements.
  • Stay updated on financial crimes risk trends, regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor and analyze data from detection systems, tools, reports, or manual sources to evaluate and determine actions.
  • Support evidence collection for incident reports, loss prevention, litigation, management info, and process improvements.
  • Maintain case files and document investigative actions.
  • Understand financial crime management processes, frameworks, and techniques.
  • Generate reports, dashboards, and analyze data for insights and recommendations.
  • Execute routine service tasks within service level agreements.
  • Notify and instruct stakeholders about incidents as needed.
  • Handle escalations and complex tasks within rules/limits.
  • Analyze issues and determine next steps.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of risk, regulations, and compliance in financial crimes (asset).
  • Knowledge of banking products, services, processes, and organization (asset).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational, collaboration, and team skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

You must be fluent in French and English to support clients and team members both inside and outside Quebec.

Salary:

$37,500.00 - $69,500.00

Pay Type:

Salaried

Salaries vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications, and may include commissions. Part-time salaries are pro-rated. The listed salary for commission roles is a target for the first year.
