About the role

Join the Enterprise Data Office (EDO), where we are working to make data an asset for solving challenges for CMHC in providing housing market stability, mortgage liquidity, and supporting housing development and insights. In this role, you will be part of the leadership team bringing enterprise data services to life. You will lead the evolution of the organization’s data capabilities and provide expert advice on data strategy, practices, and processes to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, along with IT operations support and advisory. The role requires expertise in strategic planning, change management, and project management to foster a data-centric culture that drives organizational goals.

What you’ll do :

  1. Lead the development and implementation of policies, standards, processes, related tools, and coordinate with data architecture to enhance CMHC’s Enterprise Data Governance program.
  2. Co-lead the development and implementation of data management standards, data protection standards, and the adoption of master data management (MDM) and Reference Data Management (RDM) solutions, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams (Privacy, Security, Risk, Architecture) and third-party vendors.
  3. Provide subject matter expertise related to data management, including data modeling, cataloging, business glossary, and MDM/RDM activities.
  4. Liaise with IT and Business stakeholders to align data initiatives with enterprise-wide business objectives and corporate strategy, including change management.
  5. Establish and maintain strong relationships across the organization to ensure effective deployment of EDO services.
  6. Develop and report on KPIs and metrics to demonstrate value delivery.
  7. Continuously evolve Data Services through project delivery, ensuring value realization and sound data practices in IT and Business Operations.

What you should have :

  1. An undergraduate degree in computer systems, information management, or business administration.
  2. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in data governance and management, including at least five (5) years in a leadership role.
  3. Extensive experience with data governance, data stewardship, and related technologies (e.g., Informatica, Collibra).
  4. Knowledge of data lifecycle management, data modeling, and data architecture.
  5. Advanced communication skills in English and French, with strong leadership abilities to influence and advise senior management.
  6. Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives under tight deadlines.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize information and develop recommendations.

It would be great if you also had :

  1. A CIPP/C certification or equivalent industry certification.
  2. Certified Data Management Professional (DAMA) and/or Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM).
  3. A Master’s degree in Data Strategy, Data Governance, or Data Management.
