Job description

Job Title: Bid Director

STV is seeking a Bid Director to join our commercial project management team. This hybrid position requires working 3 days a week in the office and can be located within a reasonable distance of one of our major U.S. offices.

The role involves a comprehensive understanding of alternative delivery methods for Major Projects, including engineering, contracts, risk management, schedule development, subconsultant procurement, resource planning, cost estimating, controls, and reporting methodologies to ensure accurate and robust bids.

Responsibilities
  • Manage specific Major Project bids and oversee all other Major Project bids.
  • Coordinate with Design-Build and Regional Directors to identify potential bids.
  • Develop strategies, schedules, and resource plans, ensuring adherence to Gateway processes and obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Commercial Managers to establish Design Delivery plans, including scope and schedule.
  • Review Prime Agreement General Requirements and ensure bid compliance in terms of finances and design schedules.
  • Oversee the preparation of resource-loaded Design Schedules aligned with the construction schedule.
  • Develop procurement strategies with Procurement and Project Managers, ensuring accurate budgeting and scope clarity.
  • Create auditable fee estimates for self-delivered design, ensuring scope and schedule considerations.
  • Conduct Risk and Opportunity Workshops, incorporating findings into the bid.
  • Coordinate with Regional Directors to establish Project Organagrams, Design Work Plans, and BIM Execution Plans.
  • Support the development of Alternative Technical Concepts, considering risks and commercial opportunities.
  • Prepare Tender Summary Sheets and Offer Letters, including scope, schedule, clarifications, and exclusions.
  • Maintain records of correspondence and meetings with contractors.
  • Maintain a database of previous bids for KPI tracking.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in related fields.
  • Strong background in alternative project delivery, understanding contractor methods, contract implementation, and commercial management.
  • Technical expertise in commercial, contract, and risk management.
  • Experience with large engineering and construction projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to independently resolve problems and operate efficiently.
  • Degree in construction, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies.

Compensation Range: $175,410.26 - $233,880.34
