Job Title: BI Developer – (Power BI & Tableau)

Client: Top 5 Bank

Location: Hybrid (1-2 days in office), Downtown - Toronto

Contract Duration: 6 months (with strong potential for extension)

Overview:

A top five bank in Canada is undertaking a major BI development initiative and is seeking experienced BI Developers to support these efforts. These are hands-on development roles focused on migrating existing dashboards and reports to modern BI platforms within a financial services environment.

Open Role:

• Supporting the migration of dashboards from Hadoop to Azure/Databricks and transitioning Power BI and Tableau reports to the new environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Migrate existing dashboards and reports from legacy systems (Hadoop, Cognos) to Azure/Databricks and Power BI/Tableau.
• Analyze existing report functionality and enhance visualizations during the migration process.
• Work with AML (Anti-Money Laundering) data and reporting structures of varying complexity.
• Perform complex calculations using DAX (Power BI) and calculated fields/table calculations (Tableau).
• Prepare and transform data as needed (e.g., Tableau Prep), with an understanding of normalization/denormalization.
• Collaborate with internal technology teams for support on Cognos-related queries (for the Cognos migration role).
• Ensure high-quality, performant, and accurate BI solutions aligned with business needs.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 3–5 years of hands-on BI development experience.
• Proficiency in both Power BI and Tableau.
• Strong experience with DAX, calculated fields, and table calculations.
• Experience with data/report migrations (data sources or BI tools).
• Background in financial services

Nice to Haves:

• AML experience is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with data modeling is a plus.

Additional Notes:

• These roles are not responsible for gathering business requirements.
• The primary focus is on migrating existing reports, though occasional new report builds may arise.
• Candidates must be self-sufficient, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced, enterprise environment.
