Job summary

Hampton City Schools seeks a Benefits Specialist in the Human Resources team to manage employee benefits programs, enrollment, and related inquiries. The specialist will explain options, conduct new hire orientations, and liaise with insurance carriers and vendors.

The role includes coordinating annual open enrollment, preparing retirement information for VRS/HERS, updating benefits documentation, and hosting information sessions on benefits and wellness programs.

Qualifications

• Associate's or higher degree in human resources, benefits administration, or related field.
• Minimum of three years of experience in benefits and/or retirement administration.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts at all levels; public speaking and strong customer service.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for employee questions on benefits eligibility, enrollment, and coverage options.
• Coordinate and manage annual open enrollment periods and communicate changes to employees.
• Prepare retirement information and assist with Virginia Retirement System and Hampton Employees Retirement System processes.
• Maintain and update benefits information and documentation on systems and websites.
• Arrange information sessions and health/wellness programs; liaise with carriers and vendors.
