Job Title: Benefits and Pension Partner

Wage: $75,446 - $88,277 Annually (2025)

Reports to: Supervisor, Benefits and Wellness

Location: 28 Francis St Lindsay, ON

Hours of Work: Normal working hours are 37.5 hours per week, seven (7) hours per day with core working hours between 8:00am and 5:00pm

Other: Combination of general office environment and occasional off-site travel; Attend meetings, conferences and departmental emergencies, which may be outside of normal business hours

Position Summary

This position is responsible to support the execution of programs related to employee benefits, the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) pension plan, and disability programs. Responsibilities include processing enrolments, changes, leaves, and claims; ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and Collective Agreements; and providing expert guidance and support to employees and retirees. The role also supports payroll integration, reporting, and education initiatives related to benefits and pensions.

Essential Duties

  • Administer employee group benefits and the OMERS pension plan, including enrolments, changes, terminations, and claims, in compliance with legislation, Collective Agreements, and municipal policies
  • Coordinate and support organization-wide wellness initiatives and program delivery
  • Provide guidance to employees and retirees on benefit entitlements, retirement options, life claims, and available external supports. Serve as a liaison with benefit providers, consultants, and OMERS representatives
  • Administer disability and leave programs, including short- and long-term disability claims, non-occupational sick leaves, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims, and return-to-work processes, ensuring adherence to policy and Collective Agreements
  • Prepare, reconcile, and audit benefit-related reports and year-end submissions
  • Ensure benefit booklets and communications reflect current policies and agreements
  • Coordinate and deliver benefits and pension information sessions for staff
  • Maintain accessible and current resources related to programs and entitlements
  • Perform data entry, processing, and administrative tasks related to benefits and pension, including year-end activities and providing backup support for OMERS processing
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of related progressive experience, preferably in a municipal environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with pensions, benefits, WSIB, and non-occupational disability
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles, best practices, and practical applications of disability management
  • Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Possess and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and personal attributes as described in the key performance competencies outlined below
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, audio/video conferencing, the internet and any other related software
  • Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence or the ability to frequently attend work related activities at various sites within the municipality or at other sites within Ontario
  • Upon a conditional offer of employment, an acceptable Criminal Record Check will be required
