SciCan Ltd. is seeking a dynamic Bench/Field Service Technician to join our Medical Devices Equipment technical support operations. This hands-on role focuses on mechanical, electronic, and clinical hardware service for sterilization and infection control systems.

You will own technical issues from start to finish, perform repairs, calibrations, preventative maintenance, and deliver training. Travel may be required to field sites; strong diagnostic and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent practical experience in electronics/related field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on repair, biomedical, or field service experience.
• Strong ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and drawings.
• Proficiency with diagnostic test equipment and basic computer/network concepts.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on SciCan medical and dental equipment.
• Provide world-class phone and email support to diagnose and resolve issues remotely.
• Provide accurate repair estimates and safely manage tools and test equipment.
• Study and adhere to product manuals, bulletins, and SOPs.
• Deliver technical training presentations to dealers and internal staff.
• Participate in meetings to share field insights and drive product improvements.
• Document all service actions in reports and logs.

Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Bench/Field Service Technician to join our Medical Devices Equipment technical support operations department.

Please Note: This is a hands-on mechanical, electronic, and clinical hardware service product position. It is focused on the physical repair, calibration, and maintenance of SciCan medical/dental device equipment (e.g., sterilization and infection control systems). This is NOT an IT, software, or network administration position.

As a Bench/Field Technical Service Technician at SciCan Ltd., the individual will be the frontline champion for our dental and medical customers. In this role, the "customer" is not just the person on the phone—it is every patient, clinician, and staff member impacted by our equipment. Your mission is to own technical issues from start to finish, deliver precise solutions, and aggressively minimize equipment downtime.

The Bench Technician’s daily responsibilities will span hands-on equipment repairs, remote phone/email troubleshooting, installations, preventative maintenance, and delivering technical training.

ob Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Service & Support

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on SciCan Ltd. medical and dental equipment.
• Provide world-class phone and email support to diagnose and resolve customer issues remotely.
• Provide accurate repair estimates and safely manage tools and test equipment.
• Study and strictly adhere to product materials, Operator/Service Manuals, technical bulletins, and department SOPs.
• Deliver technical training presentations to dealer technicians and internal staff (via Microsoft Teams or in person).
• Actively participate in platform meetings and technical discussions to share field insights.
• Gather and route critical field feedback to R&D, Sales, and Quality assurance teams to drive product improvement.

Administration & Compliance

• Document all service actions thoroughly by completing service reports, logs, expense forms, and compliance paperwork.
• Follow all SciCan Ltd. corporate policies, safety guidelines, and individual hospital/clinic safety protocols.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a technology repair, biomedical, or field service setting.

Technical Skills

• Strong ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with diagnostic test equipment, including digital multimeters and soldering tools.
• Solid understanding of computers, Microsoft Office Suite, basic computer networking, and network-connected devices.

Soft Skills & Logistics

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize high-stress situations, and work well in a collaborative team environment.
• Physical capability to lift, move, and position heavy medical/dental equipment safely.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and a willingness to travel for field service and vendor training.

Preferred Assets

• Fluency in French (written and spoken).
