Job description

As a Behaviour Interventionist (BI) at Monarch House, your primary responsibility is implementing programs designed and supervised by a senior clinical team (of speech pathologists, Board-Certified Behavior Analysts BCBAs, Occupational therapists, and physical therapists) to clients receiving services from Monarch House. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support skill acquisition and / or decrease maladaptive behaviors while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment.

Please note that we do not offer LMIA or independent contractor setup.

Work setup : community-based

Salary : starting at $40-50k / yr

Location : NE. We are looking for applicants that can support sessions in the North East of Calgary.

Weekly Schedule : Tuesday to Saturday from 2 : 30 pm to 7 : 30 pm (Tuesday to Friday) and 8 : 00 am to 4 : 00 pm (Saturday).

  • Responsible for implementing programs based on best practices.
  • Uses systematic methods and behavioral strategies to support clients in changing their behavior.
  • Contributes to the development of programs established by the clinical team to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1 : 1 and / or small group setting.
  • Understand the functions of behavior and respond appropriately and safely when situations arise.
  • Adhere to all clinical training, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and / or routine and provide creative solutions.
  • Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client.
  • Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating.
  • Responsible for maintaining the well-being and safety.

Here Is What You Will Need To Be Successful :

  • 1-2 years experience working with children and youth with complex needs and / or developmental disabilities.
  • Pursuing or completed education in Psychology, Speech or linguistics, occupational therapy, or kinesiology.
  • Education and demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 6 months.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license (Class 5) and reliable vehicle for daily use.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Minimum 1 year experience working in client homes is a plus.
  • Enrollment in or degree from a post-secondary program of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education, or another related field is an asset.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training, or workshops an asset.
  • Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities.
