One Health is currently recruiting talented individuals to join our expanding team as Behavioral Therapists for our Autism program located in Kanata, ON. This is NOT a remote position. Our team is growing, and we are looking for highly motivated individuals who are ready to gain hands-on experience working with children on the spectrum.
Behavioral Therapist
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work 1:1 with children with developmental disabilities to increase their skill development based on individualized programming.
- Learn and maintain ethical standards of practice.
- Work towards accreditation and gain supervised hours.
- Participate in community events and professional development opportunities.
- Work in various environments including center-based, school-based, daycare-based, or home-based settings.
- Engage in upcoming programs such as social groups, summer camps, community events, and more.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including speech-language professionals, psychologists, daycare workers, teachers, families, and others.
- Enjoy a flexible schedule with the possibility of more hours as the business grows.
- Implement behavior intervention and therapy programming for children with disabilities.
- Support children by delivering direct ABA-based programming across different settings.
- Prepare teaching materials for assessments and daily programming.
- Implement programs daily, monitor progress, and assess the effectiveness of individualized programs.
- Participate in staff training, professional development, and behavioral assessments.
- Assist with basic hygiene care such as changing clothes, diapers, and bathroom breaks.
- Provide updates to parents after assessments and programs.
- Show compassion towards others and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
- Practice active listening skills.
- Be patient with patients and colleagues.
- Maintain strong interpersonal skills.
- Work independently once assigned a case.
- Analyze clients and implement treatment programs with minimal supervision.
- Work effectively with families, healthcare professionals, counselors, and others.
- Apply skills from listening to interpretative skills effectively.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Behavioral Science Technology Diploma, Autism Behavioral Science Certificate, Registered Behavioral Technician certificate, or related (preferred).
- Degree/Diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Science, Education, Child and Youth Worker, or related field (required).
- 6 months to 1 year experience working with ABA techniques and strategies (preferred).
- Experience working with children; energetic, enthusiastic, positive, creative, and good play skills.
- Ability to lift at least 30 lbs., sit on the floor with children, engage actively, run, walk quickly, and remain energetic.
- Valid vulnerable sector check and CPR certification are required.
