Job description

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Consultant (BC) - Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) carries out various responsibilities under the supervision of the IBHS Program Director and the BCBA Clinical Director. The BC-ABA works collaboratively with clients and their families to design and oversee individualized treatment plans. Responsibilities include providing consultation, assessment, observation, treatment plan development, data collection, and analysis related to identified target behaviors. The BC-ABA completes a comprehensive assessment for each child, including a Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA) and Skill-Based Competency Assessments. The BC-ABA creates and implements an Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) with the child and family, emphasizing strengths, while also identifying areas for improvement. The BC-ABA provides supervision to BHT-ABAs on their caseload and attends all meetings and supervisions as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Accepts cases and ensures ethical and effective treatment delivery.
  • Completes all necessary reports, records, correspondence, or other written materials required by program regulations or the Agency.
  • Completes all paperwork and documentation in accordance with established company policies and procedures and acceptable clinical practices within designated timeframes.
  • Completes initial training curriculum as per company requirements and guidelines.
  • Completes ongoing assessment of the child using direct and indirect methods.
  • Coordinates clinical information/direction with other professionals and agencies while exchanging information clearly and concisely with the appropriate parties and concerns.
  • Develops and updates the Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs) per agency expectations and State/Payer requirements.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of treatment plans and modifies them as needed.
  • Implements evidence-based ABA interventions.
  • Meets minimum billable hours per week, the number of weekly billable hours the employee must meet varies by site location.
  • Plans, prepares and conducts sessions with clients and caregivers.
  • Proactively requests support and guidance on case concerns, clinical documentation, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Provides professional consultation to necessary staff.
  • Provides support to parents, teachers, or community officials.
  • Provides culturally aware and competent service provision.
  • Provides direct instruction and training to clients, staff, and treatment team members using the least restrictive methods.
  • Remains updated on evidence-based behavioral practices.
  • Responsible for supervising the BHTs assigned to his/her caseload as outlined in 5240.72.
  • Writes and directs the implementation of the Individualized Treatment Plan from input received from the treatment team.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Educational Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid Behavior Specialist License in PA AND have one of the following:
    • Certification from the BACB as a BCaBA.

  • Minimum one-year full-time experience providing ABA services AND a minimum of 12 credits in ABA from an accredited university.

  • Minimum one-year full-time experience providing ABA with direct supervision under a BCBA AND a minimum of 40 hours of training related to ABA.

  • Have a valid Psychologist License in PA AND a minimum of one-year full-time experience providing ABA AND a minimum of 40 hours of training related to ABA.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to carry out appropriate restraints to prevent clients from harming themselves or others.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. at times with or without assistance.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and moving.

Required Clearances and Documentation:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to reliable transportation.
  • Act 31/Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training.
  • Act 34 Pennsylvania State Police Background Check - Criminal History.
  • Act 114 Department of Human Services FBI Fingerprints.
  • Act 33 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History.
