Job summary

Duncan Cran Elementary School is seeking a Before and After School Care Attendant to provide supervised care for school-aged children after the regular school day. This replacement position runs from 3:00 to 5:30 pm, five days a week, with a starting wage of 25.42 CAD per hour and a 10-month work base.

The role reports to the Administrative Officer and the Before & After School Program Coordinator, and may involve working at other locations as needed within the program.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Education Assistant or ECE college courses would be an asset.
• One year training/experience working with school aged children is preferred.
• Level 1 First Aid Certificate may be required.
• Food Safe Certificate.
• Ability to work independently and set priorities.
• WHMIS and other safety training to be completed within probation.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to be an integral part of a team.
• Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search.

Responsibilities

• Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts.
• Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for activities and rest periods.
• Maintain toys and other equipment and assist in housekeeping duties.
• Provide support for related duties such as photocopying, typing and filing.
• Use a range of equipment including adaptive technology and computer systems.
• Attend workshops as directed by the Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE ATTENDANT - REPLACEMENT STEP #1

There is a position available for a Before and After School Care Attendant at Duncan Cran Elementary School. Applications must be completed online and will be accepted until 12:00 pm noon on October 6, 2026. Please note that due to licensing requirements, only applicants 19 years of age or older can be considered for this position.

Reporting to site Administrative Officer(s) and Before & After School Program Coordinator, this position is responsible for providing before and after school care to school aged children. Successful applicant may need to work at other locations as needed in Before & After School Care Attendant position.

Hours of Work: 2.5 hours per day, 5 days per week - (3:00-5:30 pm)

Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing until March 31, 2027, or upon return of the incumbent

Work Base Year: 10 Months

Commencing Salary: $25.42/hr.

Duties to be assigned include:

• Supplies support services related to the position, for example (photocopying, typing and filing).
• Uses a wide range of equipment including adaptive technology, argumentativecommunication devices, computer systemsand software.
• May be required to attend specific workshops at the direction of the Supervisor.
• Performs other job related duties as directed by the Supervisor.
