Job summary

British Columbia Public School Employers' Association | Make a Future - Careers in BC Education seeks a casual Before and After School Care Attendant to provide care for school-aged children. Position reports to site Administrative Officers and the Before & After School Program Coordinator.

Hours of Work are as needed with duties commencing as soon as possible after closing. Salary starts at $24.40/hr with potential to work at other locations as needed within the program.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Education Assistant or ECE college courses would be an asset
• One year training/experience with school aged children preferred
• Level 1 First Aid Certificate may be required
• Food Safe Certificate
• Ability to work independently and set priorities
• WHMIS Certificate and other safety training to be completed during probation
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to be an integral part of a team
• Must pass Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Screen before starting

Responsibilities

• Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts.
• Prepare snacks and arrange rooms for activities and rest periods.
• Maintain toys and equipment and assist in housekeeping duties.
• Provide supplies support such as photocopying, typing and filing.
• Use a wide range of equipment including adaptive technology, communication devices, computer systems and software.
• May attend workshops as directed by the Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE ATTENDANT - CASUAL

There are positions available for Before and After School Care Attendants - Casual with School District No. 60. Please note that due to licensing requirements, only applicants 19 years of age or older can be considered for this position.

Reporting to site Administrative Officer(s) and Before & After School Program Coordinator, this position is responsible for providing before and after school care to school aged children. Successful applicant may need to work at other locations as needed in Before & After School Care Attendant position.

Hours of Work: As needed
Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing on an as needed basis
Work Base Year: 10 Months
Commencing Salary: $24.40/hr.

Duties to be assigned include:

• Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts.
• Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for activities and rest periods.
• Maintain toys and other applicable equipment and assist in housekeeping duties.
• Supplies support services related to the position, for example (photocopying, typing and filing).
• Uses a wide range of equipment including adaptive technology, argumentativecommunication devices, computer systemsand software.
• May be required to attend specific workshops at the direction of the Supervisor.
• Performs other job related duties as directed by the Supervisor.

• Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
