Job Description

The Battery Thermal Components Design and Release Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, validation, and release of battery thermal components including cooling plates, cooling pipes, connectors, and seals used in battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). This role ensures that battery thermal components meet performance, durability, cost, and manufacturability targets while aligning with vehicle program timelines and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and release of battery thermal components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including battery systems, thermal systems, packaging, manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers.
  • Develop component and system-level specifications and ensure compliance with pack-level thermal performance requirements.
  • Manage the Bill of Materials (BOM), engineering changes (CNs), and release documentation.
  • Support thermal simulations, DFMEA, DVPR, and validation testing activities.
  • Interface with suppliers to ensure component quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.
  • Participate in design reviews, root cause analysis, and issue resolution throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal engineering best practices.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in thermal systems or component design, preferably in the automotive or electrification domain.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, NX) and PLM systems.
  • Strong understanding of thermal management principles and battery system integration.
  • Experience with component validation, testing, and supplier management.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with electric vehicle battery systems and thermal modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for EV thermal systems (e.g., SAE, ISO standards).
  • Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, and Six Sigma methodologies.
