Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a full-time Battery Sorter to join our liquids team at our Hamilton, Ontario facility. The role involves sorting batteries, operating a forklift, and performing data entry tasks in a fast-paced production environment.

The candidate will support data entry in Excel and Greentrax, maintain clean work areas, and assist with other duties as assigned by supervision. Shift time is 6 AM to 2 PM, with responsibilities including safe material handling and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift and/or overhead crane experience is an asset.
• OHSA Rights and Responsibilities, WHMIS training.
• Physical strength is required for manual material handling.
• Prolonged standing, walking and some climbing of ladders and stairs.
• Wear and maintain PPE including respirator mask.

Responsibilities

• Sorting mixed batteries on a production conveyor.
• Transport raw materials, scrap and recyclable materials throughout plant using a forklift.
• Data entry using Microsoft Excel and Greentrax.
• Clean work areas and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Battery sorter is responsible for sorting batteries to the proper destinations, data entry and forklift movements.

Shift time: 6 AM to 2 PM

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

• Completion of secondary school
• Experience in a related production line occupation or as a warehouse worker Forklift and/or Overhead crane experience an asset

• Physical strength is required for manual material handling materials
• Long standing, walking and some minimal climbing of ladders and stairs
