Job summary

Setpoint Building Automation, Inc. is seeking a BAS Technician to join our Vaughan, ON team.

This full-time on-site role supports Project Managers and installation crews in BAS installation and retrofit projects, with exposure to field installation, commissioning, service, and design work. You will receive structured training and mentorship in HVAC and mechanical systems, controls programming, electrical controls, networking, and customer communication, with a clear path toward becoming a BAS

Qualifications

• Diploma, degree or certificate in Mechanical, Electrical or HVAC Technology, Building Automation, Instrumentation, Mechatronics or related field; asset but not required.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, mechanical or BAS systems.
• Electrical troubleshooting, networking/IT knowledge, or reading technical drawings.
• Demonstrated history of self-learning and a long-term BAS career interest.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Takes initiative and works well independently and in a team.
• Effective communication with teammates and customers.
• Valid Ontario G driver's license and ability to travel to GTA sites.

Responsibilities

• Field & Commissioning: Support installation crews with BAS project installation and commissioning.
• Perform service calls to troubleshoot BAS hardware and software for customers.
• Support Project Managers on active construction sites.
• Coordinate and deliver parts and materials as required.
• Review mechanical drawings and project specifications.
• Support Project Managers in designing BAS control systems.
• Prepare shop drawings and update as-built documentation.
• Programming & Graphics: Support BAS controllers programming and GUI creation.
• Create/modify graphical interfaces for BAS systems and test control sequences during commissioning.

Role Description:

The BAS Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Vaughan, ON. As a BAS Technician , you will support our Project Managers and installation team in delivering BAS installation and retrofit projects at Setpoint. Working alongside experienced BAS professionals, you will gain hands-on exposure to every phase of a project, including field installation, commissioning, service, system design, shop drawings, programming and graphics.

This role is the entry point to Setpoint's Project Manager Development Program. You will receive structured training and mentorship in HVAC and mechanical systems, building automation, controls programming, electrical controls, networking, and customer communication, with a clear path toward becoming a BAS Project Manager.

Responsibilities:

Field & Commissioning

• Support installation crews with the installation and commissioning of BAS projects

• Test control sequences and verify system operation during commissioning

Qualifications:

• Diploma, degree or certificate in Mechanical, Electrical or HVAC Technology, Building Automation, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related field is an asset but not required
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, mechanical or BAS systems
• Electrical troubleshooting, networking/IT knowledge, or experience reading technical drawings is an asset
• A demonstrated history of self-learning and a strong desire to build a long-term career in BAS
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
• Takes initiative and works well both independently and as part of a team
