Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for the service of all beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They must be personable, professional, and able to work in an ever-changing fast-paced environment. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need. Monthly surveys are sent out for staff to sign up for shifts they are available for and would like to work.

This role will pay an hourly rate between $17.75 to $18.75 plus tips.

About The Venue

The Ovintiv Events Centre is situated in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose events centre. With 4,500 permanent seats, 28 VIP luxury suites, and Co-op Mercer Hall, a 5,500 square foot banquet space, the Ovintiv Events Centre is the premier events centre in Northern British Columbia.

Responsibilities

  • Meet the company standard for excellent guest service, interaction with co-workers, and uniform standards.
  • Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus to provide the described service.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures and regulations.
  • Learn about various beer, wine, & spirits and suggestively upsell to guests.
  • Pour drinks responsibly according to standards.
  • Check guest IDs to verify minimum age requirements.
  • Communicate a cut-off time to guests as required.
  • Respond to customer requests or concerns.
  • De-escalate intoxicated guest situations; contact management or security if needed.
  • Resolve issues or seek management assistance when beyond standard decision scope.
  • Request and restock products as needed.
  • Handle cash accurately; responsible for the issued bank at the bar.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary work station and well-maintained equipment.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of bar equipment and organization of the cooler.
