The Bartender contributes to the successful execution of daily beverage service within the outlets spaces of ‘Copper Spirits and Sights’ in the Food and Beverage Department. Working closely with the F&B leadership, the role ensures the seamless delivery of Hyatt's service standards, enhancing the overall guest experience during restaurant operations.
Essential Job Function:
- To be familiar with all beverage items on the restaurant menu.
- To set up, stock, clean and maintain the bar and beverage preparation area.
- To prepare and serve beverages according to the standard required.
- To clear and reset tables and bar top.
- To complete opening and closing duties as assigned.
- To follow standard recipes and minimise waste to help ensure that the restaurant’s beverage cost is in line with budget.
- To be flexible wherever possible in meeting special requests from guests for specific beverage preparation methods and ingredients.
- To follow presentation and service guidelines as established by the F&B Management.
- To be familiar with the ingredients, preparation methods and service of all food items served in the restaurant.
- To utlilise the restaurant’s point-of-sales system as prescribed
- To ensure that all sales are properly recorded, following prescribed procedures for ordering, voiding or correcting items and other procedures mentioned in the cash handling policy.
- To order beverage ingredients based on restaurant par stocks and as prescribed by the F&B Management.
- To maintain the assigned station / section in a clean and orderly manner at all times.
- To ensure that all company minimum brand standards are implemented, and that optional brand standards are implemented where appropriate.
- To work in a supportive and flexible manner with other employees and other department
- To handle all guest and internal customer complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to make sure problems are resolved satisfactorily.
- To treat all operating equipment and supplies carefully to minimize damage and reduce wastage
- To assist in inventory taking as required.
- Complete assigned side work
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
Other Duties:
- To report for duty punctually wearing the prescribed uniform standards and name tag.
- To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and food safety hygiene and adhere to the hotel and department grooming standards.
- To maintain good working relationships with colleagues and all other departments.
- To read the hotel’s Employee Handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel’s rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
- To comply with Ontario and Ottawa legislation
- To respond to any changes in the department as dictated by the needs of the hotel.
- To be flexible in your job function and perform any other reasonable duties and responsibilities which may be assigned to you, including redeployment to other departments/areas if required, in order to meet business demands and guest service needs.
- To attend training sessions and meetings as and when required.
- Perform any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by F&B leadership

- Hours: Flexible and long shifts; scheduled days and times may vary based on need. Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
- Ability to stand during entire shift.
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum one year of previous bartending experience and a thorough understanding of beverages will be preferred.
