Job Description: Bartender at Courtyard Marriott Montreal

The Courtyard Marriott is located in the heart of Montreal, near the Palais des congrès, just minutes from the famous underground city, Place des Arts, shops, boutiques on rue Ste-Catherine, and Old Montreal. The hotel offers 212 spacious rooms, conference rooms, an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, exercise room, restaurant, lounge bar, and Coffee counter.

Reporting to the restaurant manager and assistant, the bartender is a mixologist who stays updated on the latest beverage trends. The bartender greets guests warmly and personally, offers the drinks menu, makes recommendations, and answers questions to ensure a memorable experience.

Main Tasks
  1. Greet customers and provide prompt service.
  2. Serve customers at tables and bar.
  3. Take orders, make recommendations, and answer questions about the menu.
  4. Share menu knowledge and accommodate special requests.
  5. Open and serve wine and champagne.
  6. Prepare garnishes.
  7. Stock ice, glasses, and paper products.
  8. Set up and maintain the bar, ensuring cleanliness.
  9. Process transactions accurately and efficiently using the POS system.
  10. Clear tables, perform side duties, and restock supplies.
  11. Maintain cleanliness, safety, and professional image of the hotel.
  12. Be attentive to food allergies and intolerances, ensuring proper communication with the kitchen.
  13. Follow hotel procedures and standards.
  14. Perform any other related tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions

- Full-time or part-time positions available.

- Permanent roles with day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Diploma in hotel management, Foodservice (DEP), or sommelier certification.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Knowledge of oenology, spirits, and beers.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergencies.
  • Strong sales skills.
  • Autonomy, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 11 kg and stand or walk for extended periods.
