Job summary

Pomeroy Lodging in Calgary is seeking a Lead Bartender to elevate guest experiences through expert mixology and outstanding service. You will lead the bar team, craft signature cocktails, and ensure efficient, friendly service in a busy hotel setting, creating memorable moments for every guest.

Responsibilities include managing inventory, maintaining cleanliness, training staff, collaborating with the Food & Beverage Manager, and developing seasonal menus.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment without sacrificing quality.
• Minimum of two years of bartending experience in a hotel or upscale establishment is required.
• Previous experience as a server or in a food & beverage position is an asset.
• Knowledge of local alcohol laws and regulations.
• Valid ProServe certification is required.

• Partner with the Food & Beverage Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the bar and restaurant.
• Lead by example in delivering exceptional guest service, creating a welcoming and memorable bar experience.
• Prepare beverages and fulfill all bar orders for servers in a timely and consistent manner.
• Support the development and execution of creative, locally inspired, and seasonal cocktail menus.
• Oversee bar inventory, including monthly counts, tracking usage trends, and coordinating timely replenishment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar area, ensuring all health, safety, and hygiene standards are met.
• Accurately process cash and cashless transactions using the POS system.
• Support daily bar preparation, including crafting house-made syrups, garnishes, and other ingredients.
• Contribute to team success by assisting with training, coaching, and maintaining high service standards.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail, accountability, and a proactive approach to daily operations.

Job Description

As a Lead Bartender, you have the authority to exceed guest expectations by creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that coincides with our “we’ve been expecting you” sense of arrival for our guests. Your role is crucial because you are pivotal in the guest’s impression of quality service throughout our hotel. Working Conditions

This position may work dayshift, afternoon, or evening shift any day of the week or weekend with long days to meet periodic upturns in business demands or meet deadlines. This position is set in a fast-paced and, at times, high-pressure environment that requires continuous physical movement, the ability to lift up to 30 lbs., and the ability to manage multiple sequences and demands. There may be periods of independent work and changes in temperature from the back to the front of the house.
