Position Status: Union

Reports to: DET Commander

Starting Wage: $25.59 per hour plus RSP


Job Duties:

  • Provide superior customer service and ensure team adherence to high standards of client care

  • Supervise and support staff in carrying out day-to-day operational tasks, including building rounds, damage reporting, linen exchanges, and upkeep

  • Ensure compliance with Maritime Pacific Single Quarters Regulations and communicate updates to team members

  • Act as primary Fire Warden and oversee emergency preparedness, including drills and incident response (e.g., fire, active shooter, earthquake)

  • Coordinate March In/Out routines and ensure documentation is completed accurately and on time

  • Review and submit damage reports and work orders to Real Property Operations; follow up to ensure timely resolution

  • Oversee key control procedures and ensure strict adherence to security protocols

  • Maintain oversight of building safety equipment, including first aid kits, eye wash stations, emergency showers, and earthquake kits

  • Manage inventory and coordinate with BAccnfor linen, furniture, supplies, and other resource needs

  • Train and support staff in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint) and Base Accommodation software (MS Access, QuickQuarters)

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including Preventative Medicine, DND Fire Services, Real Property Operations, and other military units

  • Monitor staff compliance with policies and procedures, providing coaching and corrective action when necessary

  • Use point-of-sale (POS) systems to process debit/credit transactions when required, and oversee accuracy of financial procedures

  • Foster a culture of safety, respect, and continuous improvement within the accommodations team

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Ability to remain alert while on duty.
  • Ability to work in a range of weather conditions throughout shift.
  • Possess or be willing to obtaina valid BC security worker's license.
  • Be comfortable using computers.
  • Fluent in the English language - written, verbal and reading skills.
  • Have a positive attitude with a professional demeanour.
  • Have excellent attention to complete incident report writing.
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable handling emergencies in a calm manner – training & support will be provided.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in varying situations.
