Job summary

Barminco, part of the Perenti Group, is seeking an Experienced Underground Auto Electrician to join our Canadian Operations on a 6 week on, 3 weeks off roster. You will help develop local teams by sharing your experience and setting a safety-first example.

Duties include servicing mobile equipment safely, minimizing downtime, recording maintenance, and training less experienced tradespeople in a high‑productivity underground mining environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in underground mining.
• Strong knowledge of Sandvik UG development/production drills and loaders.
• Experience with Caterpillar underground loaders.
• Knowledge of remote control systems (RCT/Automine).
• Ability to train less experienced tradespeople to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing to mobile equipment safely per procedures.
• Minimize downtime on machinery through skilled troubleshooting.
• Record and report maintenance accurately.
• Maintain clean, organized workshop and stock levels.
• Read and interpret service and spare parts manuals.
• Report faults to Maintenance Foreman for scheduling.

The emphasis of the role is ensuring that the local workers are developing their skills and knowledge by way of sharing your experience and being a role model. You will require boundless energy, resilience, determination, and a genuine interest in working with people from different cultures.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing to mobile equipment in a safe manner and in accordance with procedures, regulations, and the service sheet.
• Utilise skill and experience to create minimum downtime on machinery.
• Ensure correct recording and reporting of maintenance is achieved.
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping in workshop and working areas at all times, ensure all parts are kept at minimum stock levels.
• Read and interpret Service and Spare parts manuals.
• Report all equipment faults to the Maintenance Foreman for scheduling into the workshop weekly Minimum Requirements:
• A demonstrated passion for safety and a proactive attitude toward ensuring that safety is front of mind for all employees at all times.
• A sound knowledge on Sandvik U/G Development/Production Drills and Loaders
• Experience on Caterpillar Underground Loaders
• Proven knowledge on remote control systems either RCT or Automine.
• Experienced in training less qualified tradespeople to a high standard in a high productivity underground contracting mining environment.
• Strong background working with latest generation underground mobile equipment and associated automation systems.
• At least 5 years post apprenticeship experience working within the underground mining industry on large mobile equipment.
• Self-starter who will work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
• International Driver’s License.
