Job summary

COMPASS GROUP CANADA is seeking a Barista to prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks and related items to customers at our location in Mississauga. You will welcome customers, explain the menu, and help them choose beverages to match their tastes.

The ideal candidate has excellent customer service skills, a background as a Barista is helpful, and the ability to follow written and spoken instructions while working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare coffee drinks following prescribed recipes and techniques.
  • Sell coffee and equipment by explaining differences in beans and machines.
  • Replenish inventory and maintain pastries and supplies for the coffee bar.
  • Keep equipment operating and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Improve quality by evaluating and redesigning processes and store appearance.

Job description

The hourly wage rate for this position is $23 . Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. How you will make an impact:

You will be responsible for preparing and serving coffee, espresso drinks and related food and beverage items to customers.

As a Barista, you will:
  • Welcome customers by determining their coffee interests and needs
  • Educate customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu, answering questions
  • Prepare coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso, cafe latte, and cappuccino
  • Sell coffee and coffee grinding/brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates
  • Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations
  • Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar
