Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Barista to prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks and related items to customers.

You will welcome customers, educate them on the coffee menu, and craft beverages following prescribed recipes. The role includes maintaining inventory, operating and troubleshooting equipment, and keeping the coffee bar clean and compliant with sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service is required.
• Previous Barista experience is an asset.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork ability.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assess coffee interests and needs.
• Educate customers on coffee drinks and menu items.
• Prepare espresso, latte, cappuccino and other drinks per recipes.
• Sell coffee and brewing equipment by explaining differences in beans and machines.
• Replenish supplies and maintain coffee bar inventory and pastries.
• Ensure equipment is clean and in good working order; perform basic maintenance.
• Maintain a safe, sanitary workspace and monitor sanitation standards.

How you will make an impact:

You will be responsible for preparing and serving coffee, espresso drinks and related food and beverage items to customers.

As a Barista, you will:

• Welcome customers by determining their coffee interests and needs


• Educate customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu, answering questions


• Prepare coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso, cafe latte, and cappuccino


• Sell coffee and coffee grinding/brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates


• Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar


• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs


• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations


• Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar
