Job Description
Unit : Cedar Valley Lodge, Kitimat
Rotation : 14 days in / 7 days out
Wage : $28.09 per hour
Scope
As a member of our services team, you will always provide the highest quality of customer service, while working for Sodexo. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Welcoming clients and consulting with them on their instructions or preferences.
- Cutting and trimming hair according to clients' instructions using clippers, comb, hair dryer, and scissors.
- Styling hair using chemical solutions and styling tools.
- Shaving, trimming, and shaping clients’ beards and mustaches.
- Ensuring that combs, scissors, razors, and other instruments are cleaned and sanitized after each use.
- Providing hairstyle suggestions to clients and staying up-to-date on current trends.
- Using Point-Of-Sale system for taking payments and refunds.
- Cleansing and disinfecting all work areas and tools.
- Ordering supplies and taking inventory.
- May sell and promote hair supplies, lotions, tonics, or other cosmetics.
- Taking guest bookings and maintaining an organized work schedule.
- Organizing shift schedules in collaboration with Retail Managers.
- May train and supervise other barbers and barber apprentices.
- Maintaining a designated space separate from client supplies for personal items.
- Conducting Toolbox Safety Talks.
- Completing audits and daily inspections of all work areas with Sodexo Managers.
- Maintaining knowledge of and complying with departmental policies, service procedures, standards, and BC Health Guidelines for Personal Service establishments.
- Taking pride in personal appearance and following site grooming guidelines and dress code.
- Performing all other reasonable job-related duties as assigned by a manager.
- Complying with all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.
- Reporting all accidents and injuries promptly.
- Attending designated training programs (classroom and virtual).
- Adhering to site travel policies including airport check-in times and Sodexo flight no-show policy.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment with strict adherence to Sodexo anti-bullying and harassment policies.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of barber experience.
- Secondary school education or equivalent barber certification / program / Red Seal.
- Experience in a camp setting is an asset.
- Ability to exert physical effort in walking, lifting, bending, and transporting goods.
- Endure various physical movements and remain stationary at times.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Must pass a medical exam prior to starting work.
- Good attendance and disciplinary record.
- Valid Driver’s License is an asset.
