Job summary

River Cree Resort & Casino in Spruce Grove, AB is seeking a Barback to support bartenders, stock the bar, and ensure guests receive excellent service.

Reporting to Beverage Manager, the Barback will assist with stocking, cleaning, and coordinating with servers; shift work including nights, weekends and holidays may apply. A high school diploma and customer service experience are valued; Proserve preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous customer service experience.
• Up to 6 months beverage experience is an asset.
• AGLC - Proserve/Protect preferred
• Good health and personal hygiene.
• Able to work well in a team and handle stress.

Responsibilities

• Stock coolers across multiple bars and walk-ins.
• Assist bartenders and servers with opening, closing, and service.
• Maintain inventory and rotate stock (FIFO).
• Clean work areas, glassware, and bars; remove trash.
• Manage supplies like glassware, ice, garnishes, and straws.
• Ensure safety and health standards in the workplace.

Job description

A structured Barback role is critical to assist bartenders with the preparation of drinks as well providing our guests with the best service and experience.

Reporting to the Beverage Manager, the Barback will be responsible to assist the entire bartending team. This will include completing tasks such as stocking, cleaning, and assisting bartenders and servers in their role.

• Stock coolers in all of the following areas. Centre Bar walk-in cooler, Center Bar coolers, Poker coolers, High Limit cooler as necessary.
• Properly fill out requisition form necessary for liquor transfer.
• Assist bartenders in opening and closing the bar.
• Maintain product and ice levels in Center and Poker bars (High limit as necessary)
• Maintain bar supplies in Center and Poker bar. (glassware, cups, grenadine, straws, Tabasco, etc.)
• Maintain coffee and supplies at both Centre and Poker bar.
• Ensure proper inventory rotation (first in - first out)
• General cleaning as required in all of the areas listed above, especially the removal of bottles and garbage.
• Assist servers with bussing and cleaning Centre Bar tables (High Limit as necessary)
• Clean up spilled food and broken dishes.
• Any other general cleaning duty as assigned by the supervisor on duty.
• To look out for the safety of yourself, co-workers and to follow all Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
• All other duties as assigned

• Communication Skills good speaking and listening skills to understand that tasks are being asked of them and to deal with any concerns from guests.
• Physical Ability Many of the Porter tasks require him/her to carry loads up to 25 kilograms. During any expediting he/she must be able to move the load on a tray across the restaurant floor smoothly.
• Good health and personal hygiene.

The schedule for this position may vary and would require the ability to work shift work, late nights, weekends and holidays.
