Job Description
- Responsible for standards, recognition, and counseling of staff, ensuring exceptional outcomes for functions ranging from 4 to 1500 people.
- Coordinates the selection, training, and development of all banquet colleagues to maintain hotel standards.
- Organizes and coordinates function room set-ups and food and beverage services.
- Conducts inspections of banquet facilities and equipment, reporting deficiencies to maintenance.
- Liaises with the convener and coordinator before, during, and after services to meet and exceed needs.
- Attends pre- and post-convention meetings.
- Maintains up-to-date function information regarding changes or revisions.
- Participates in daily communication meetings with Catering, Stewarding, and Culinary Teams.
- Builds strong relationships with team members to ensure high morale through coaching and leading by example.
- Works towards departmental goals related to guest experience, financial targets, and health and safety.
- Ensures high guest satisfaction with measurable improvements in JDP meeting planner scores.
- Advocates for clients to ensure outstanding guest experiences.
- Collaborates on scheduling and staff sharing during busy periods.
- Coordinates with the Executive Chef and Culinary Team for meal service execution at catered functions.
- Ensures billing accuracy for convention services.
- Completes administrative tasks such as billing, gratuity distribution, buffet labeling, filing, and scheduling.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Banquet Supervisor in a medium to large luxury hotel.
- Strong computer skills in MS Word, Email, Excel.
- Proven leadership and commitment to staff development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Post-secondary education in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
- Previous union experience.
