Banquet Captain - Silvertip

Are you passionate about creating exceptional event experiences? Join our team at Silvertip Resort, as a Seasonal Banquets Captain, one of the most sought-after destinations for weddings and events, and take a leading role in delivering unforgettable moments for our guests.


Position Summary

Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager - The Banquets Captain plays a crucial role in the successful execution of events within our venue. This position involves overseeing the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet functions, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and seamless operations. The Banquets Captain will lead a team of servers while also being on the floor providing guidance and training to maintain high service standards. Responsibilities include coordinating with event planners, managing timelines, and addressing any guest needs or concerns. A strong focus on detail, communication, and teamwork is essential to create memorable events that reflect our commitment to excellence. The ideal candidate will have a background in hospitality, a passion for event service, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the setup, service, and breakdown of events, ensuring adherence to timelines and high-quality service standards.
  • Supervise and train servers and support staff, providing guidance and support to maintain service excellence.
  • Address guest inquiries and special requests promptly and professionally.
  • Provide information about the area to guests.
  • Assist colleagues during busy periods and provide support to ensure overall team effectiveness.
  • Ensure proper appearance (condition of uniforms) and grooming while on duty.
  • Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Manager to ensure smooth operations, including communicating with kitchen staff and event planners.
  • Adhere to ProServe standards and all local and state alcohol service regulations, including checking identification to verify legal drinking age and monitoring guest behavior for responsible service.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels for banquet supplies and report any shortages or needs to management.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
  • Ensure that all safety and cleanliness standards are upheld throughout the event, adhering to health regulations and company policies.
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns according to procedure and escalate to management when necessary.
  • Document and report any incidents or accidents that occur during service, ensuring that proper follow-up procedures are followed.

Requirements

  • ProServe certificate.
  • Should be eligible to work in Canada full-time.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and flexible hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally, 30lbs frequently, and 20lbs constantly.
  • Able to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.
  • Previous experience in a banquet, catering, or hospitality leadership role preferred.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Duration: This is a Full-Time seasonal position, April to October. Overtime during busy periods may be required.
