The Capital Markets Administration and Compliance (CMAC) division oversees the accounting, debt servicing, trade settlement, reporting, and custody of the government’s market debt and investments, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

About Our Opportunity

The Bank Reconciliation Clerk, reporting to the Bank Reconciliation Supervisor, is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely accounting, reporting, and support for all financial transactions processed through the government’s major chartered banks. The role includes analyzing financial and technical data to ensure proper allocation and financial conformity. Additional duties involve monitoring clearing accounts, creating and testing posting rules, processing stop payments, and addressing inquiries. The Bank Reconciliation Clerk may also assist with training, business enhancements, and the development of procedures as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a Grade 11 education plus five years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preference will be given to those with post-secondary accounting training.

As the ideal candidate, you have experience with banking services, financial accounting, and financial reporting. Experience in performing reconciliations and preparing journal entries is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team are required.

Candidates must have a strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of GAAP. Experience with SAP is considered an asset. Strong judgment and problem-solving skills are essential for accurately interpreting information and making effective decisions on a daily basis. A solid understanding of the banking industry and web-based banking platforms would also be beneficial. Proficiency in using various computer tools, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, is required.

Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.
