We're looking to build up a bank of available candidates for sporadic, on-call, and short-term replacements in our schools and centres.


Salary:


$24.62 per hour

Nature of the work:


The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consist of being responsible for carrying out maintenance work, as well as the preventive and physical upkeep of an educational institution or building, covering an area of less than 9,275 m2.


The role also involves organizing and carrying out maintenance tasks, coordinating and overseeing work when performed by other employees, and performing the characteristic functions of Maintenance Workman, Class II.


Description of tasks:


  • Ensure the cleanliness of the premises.
  • Organize and carry out maintenance work by performing Maintenance Workman Class II duties.
  • Maintain the condition of maintenance apparatus and equipment.
  • Ensure the building and its equipment are in good condition, including inspecting lighting, heating, and ventilation systems, and ensuring the operation of heating equipment.
  • Perform or oversee preventive maintenance and minor repairs, report breakdowns, and ensure repairs are completed.
  • Follow up on work performed by other workmen.
  • Repair doors, windows, furniture, and assemble or install materials as needed.
  • Ensure security measures against fire and theft are in place.
  • Monitor visitors, students, and staff if required.
  • Prepare rooms and halls as needed.
  • Order and purchase materials, keep inventory, and ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of products.
  • Make suggestions for products, materials, and work methods.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and oversee the work of other nonspecialized employees if required.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Desired profile


Experience

Practical skills:


  • Knowledge of operation of heating, ventilation, lighting, and alarm systems.
