Qualifications

Job Summary

Main Duties

You will be a key member of the Vascular Lab team, ensuring a high-quality, accessible, and efficient service. Your responsibilities include providing comprehensive diagnostic and evaluative duplex ultrasound services to referring consultants and clinicians for patients with peripheral vascular disease, lower limb ischemia, venous, and carotid disease.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain clinical standards in vascular sonography.
  • Ensure patient scanning is efficient, maintaining quality standards, and minimizing delays for patients.
  • Advise clinicians on interpretation of results and recommend further investigations or urgent reviews by Vascular Surgeons when appropriate.
  • Counsel patients on test results and conclusions, addressing both normal and distressing outcomes.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and stay updated with developments in vascular technology through courses and seminars.
  • Assist the Lead Vascular Scientist with organizing and supervising junior staff.

Person Specification & Qualifications

  • HCPC registered and practiced as a Registered Biomedical Scientist.
  • IBMS registration portfolio.
  • A Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • MSc in Vascular Ultrasound from a CASE-accredited university program.
  • Society of Vascular Technology (SVT) accreditation.
  • Proven NHS experience in vascular ultrasound scanning post-qualification/accreditation.
