Job description

Band 3 Radiography Assistant Locum – Cardiff
Location: Cardiff
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Ongoing
Pay Rate: £20.00 per hour
Hours: 09:00 am – 5:00 pm

The radiography team at Pulse is currently recruiting for a Band 3 Radiography Assistant to join a busy hospital in Cardiff. The individual must be able to start as soon as possible, with this being an ongoing contract from Monday to Friday, with some weekends.

Responsibilities:

The Radiography Assistant is responsible for supporting radiographers in performing diagnostic imaging procedures, such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans while preparing patients by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort and safety. This role includes maintaining imaging equipment and assisting in basic troubleshooting, monitoring patients during procedures to provide emotional support, and maintaining accurate patient records and documentation related to imaging. Additionally, the assistant must adhere to health and safety regulations, maintain a clean and safe working environment, and assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling inquiries.

Requirements:
  • Educational Background: A minimum of a GCSE or equivalent qualification; relevant health or radiography-related qualifications are advantageous.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting or as a radiography assistant is preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team and follow instructions from radiographers and other medical staff.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure patient safety and accurate record-keeping.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing schedules and patient needs.
  • Technical Skills: A basic understanding of imaging equipment and technology is a plus.
  • Previous Experience: Experience as an overseas radiographer or as a radiography assistant in the NHS or private setting.
  • Qualifications: A radiography degree is desirable; cannulation skills are also desirable.
