Qualifications

About the role:

As a Balance of Plant (BOP) Mechanical EIT II, you will work with a multi-discipline team of engineers in the design, analysis, and evaluation of systems using engineering software, including support to more senior engineers.

You will report to the Senior Manager, Balance of Plant Mechanical Engineering and be located at our Kitchener, Ontario location. You will work a hybrid work arrangement of 2 to 3 days per week in the office.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Work with a multi-discipline team of engineers in the design, analysis, and evaluation of systems using engineering software, including support to more senior engineers.
  2. Apply engineering principles and engineering codes & standards, such as ASME, CSA, and ANSI, to the design, analysis, and evaluation of systems.
  3. Resolve technical issues for operating nuclear power plants, new plants (e.g., AP1000, eVinci, SMR), other nuclear projects (e.g., fuel fabrication facilities), and non-nuclear projects (e.g., district heating, energy storage, hydrogen production).
  4. Develop calculations and reports to document design and analysis results following ASME Section III code requirements and other international codes.
  5. Apply procurement engineering and part optimization techniques to engineering projects.
  6. Work with engineers in other disciplines such as electrical and civil/structural.
  7. Participate on project teams with internal and/or external representation.
  8. Participate in customer and vendor meetings to present technical materials and justification of services and product designs.
  9. Perform work within established scope, budgetary, and schedule requirements.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical (preferred), Civil, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
  2. 2+ years of engineering experience.
  3. Power industry (e.g., nuclear power plant) experience is a plus.
  4. Familiarity with CSA N299 code.
  5. Work with multiple functions to coordinate the flow of information.
